We’re spotlighting talent in the cosplay community!
Every month, The Variant showcases cosplayers who display talent, creativity,
and a positive voice within the cosplay community.
If you’ve been paying attention you might recognize our July Cosplay Spotlight from wayyyy back in our December 2017 “Christmas Morning” Cosplay Spotlight where we had some cosplayers dressed like “Christmas morning toys” under the tree.
Bunnikins was a wonderful Elsa!! That was also the first official Cosplay Spotlight shoot done by Tomisina Lynn.
Fast forward eight years and Bunnikins has made her way back to The Variant, not only as a Cosplay Spotlight, but as
one of our convention sales team and “booth mom”. She’s one of the sweetest little beans you’ll ever meet.
She’ll always greet you with a smile, and also, usually, some candy.
Hi, I’m Bunni! I’m a * mumblesvaguenumber * year old cosplayer from Eastern North Carolina.
My mom started me off really early, hand making all of my Halloween costumes.
I didn’t really start cosplaying on my own until I was in college, and was always afraid of the cost of conventions
(omg still!), but jumped right in with the My Little Pony Fair & Convention in 2012. Since then, I’ve had an
amazing time making new friends at every convention I go to and cosplaying all the things.
(Like…all the things…from crabs to princesses to
bumblebees with more to come!!)
I may not be a professional cosplayer, but I am most certainly a professional procrastinator.
I swear the costume will be ready by the time I hit con floor, but it will be worked on at the hotel. XD
(hey, some of my best stuff is made in con hotels! There’s magic in that air!)
I am fueled by glitter and Red Bull and love tutus and
Gorf. If you see me at a convention, please come and say hi and let’s take a selfie!
My selfie harem always has room for more! ❤
The thing we LOVE about Bunnikins is she cosplays what she loves. She’s not doing whatever’s trending or popular, she makes her
cosplays of things she loves and at the end of the day that’s really all it’s about. Don’t believe us? This month she brought
us three of these, Gary the snail from Spongebob Squarepants, her pajama style Cookie Monster and Garfield the cat.
Also, Bunnikins has an undisclosed number of Loungefly backpacks and gear to match pretty much the majority of what she makes.
This month is also the debut of Tomisina’s newest creation, Cosplay Action Figure packs.
Stay tuned throughout the month to find out more about this!!
WAIT!!…why are you still reading this??

In a world where rehashed ideas are the standard, we instead choose to give a “Variant” outlook at the fandoms, comics, cons and cosplayers you all know and love.
