We’re spotlighting talent in the cosplay community!
Every month, The Variant showcases cosplayers who display talent, creativity, and a positive voice within the cosplay community.
Every November 1st we feel relieved, but also a little melancholy.
October is over, and also, October is over. BUT…
New Cosplay Spotlights ALWAYS cheer us up!!!
For November we are proud to welcome Holocherrycos to The Variant!!!
Here’s a little bit about them!!
Hey world!
My name is Bow—AKA holocherrycos on most social media platforms! You can call me Cherry if you forget, as an ode to my favorite androgynous pink-haired anime skateboarder. I’ve been nerding out for my whole life, but I’ve been officially cosplaying for about
7 years now. My first cosplay was, controversially, Jillian Holtzmann from the Ghostbusters 2016 reboot and
since then, I have collected a large arsenal of silly little guys to cosplay.
I will admit that I am not much of a seamstress or crafter. Despite this, I have still attempted to make quite a few things myself,
but I’m much more naturally inclined to wig work and makeup. I mostly rely a lot on commission and collaborative work.
I always feel like the creative process is much more fun with friends!
This is likely a phrase you’ve heard before, but I enjoy bringing out the “play” aspect in cosplay. You can find me running
local meetups at cons and organizing cosplay groups in my spare time. I have also worked on panels in the past, taking part
in Steven Universe performances and participating in virtual panels as well. As an autistic creator who struggles
socially, cosplay has really broadened my horizons and opened me up to a world of people a lot like me.
I owe a lot of mynewfound confidence to the lovely people I have connected with through this hobby.
I am primarily interested in anime, cartoons and podcasts these days, so I’ll list off a few of the fandoms you
can find me either currently cosplaying from or planning to: Sk8 the infinity, Jujutsu Kaisen, Hazbin Hotel / Helluva Boss,
The Adventure Zone, The Magnus Archives, Welcome to Night Vale, Demon Slayer, Heaven Official’s Blessing,
Tiger & Bunny, My Hero Academia, Fruits Basket, Five Nights at Freddy’s, Hunter x Hunter, Spy x Family,
She-Ra, Steven Universe, Sally Face, Danganronpa, Haikyuu!, RWBY, Lupin III, The Owl House, The Walten Files,
Welcome Home, and The Amazing Digital Circus. I’m sure I missed something, either that or I was a little TOO
thorough, but if you are looking for someone to talk to and connect with about any of these things, please pick my brain about it!
For November Bow brought us three great cosplays of Blitzo from Helluva Boss, Illumi from Hunter x Hunter and
Hawks from My Hero Academia. The first two were shot by the incredible Tomisina Lynn and that
stunning Hawks set was the outstanding work of Sudds!!!
WAIT!!…why are you still reading this??

In a world where rehashed ideas are the standard, we instead choose to give a “Variant” outlook at the fandoms, comics, cons and cosplayers you all know and love.
