One of our cosplay spotlights and current employee, Jenna Say What, was the victim of physical sexual abuse for four months by a cosplayer known as Johnie_5 during a seven month relationship. She currently has a Domestic Violence Protection Order against him for three out of four types of stalking, physical sexual abuse and harassment. He is legally unable to come within 100 yards of her in all 50 states. It is noted in the domestic violence protection order that when attending conventions he has been known to keep multi-colored zip ties in his trunk to tag his own cosplay prop guns. Because of this, in court, the judge stated he is legally unable to purchase or own a firearm. If he told you he had “something else to do” during the weekend of GalaxyCon Raleigh, just know that “something else” was actually “not getting arrested” as Jenna was in attendance. The fact that he knew this and sold his already purchased ticket, after she posted about it on her social media, means that he is still stalking her or a third party is doing it for him which is also a violation of the protection order.
Jenna is also a sex worker. During her sexual relationship with him he would mutilate her thighs with bite marks and repeatedly bruise her butt so she couldn’t work because he hated that she did sex work. Eventually he cheated on her with another cosplayer but gaslit her into believing that nothing was going on, told her “she was crazy” and eventually that he “couldn’t be with someone who did SW”. He lied to our company multiple times about the entire incident and the subsequent relationship with his current girlfriend who, at the time, was also a company employee. Since being fired he has continued to try to slander and defame our company in any and every way possible, in some cases using third parties to do so. The photos below were evidence in court. He had an argument that he had already prepared when they were displayed.
His argument was that “she liked it”.
Back in February of 2023, we fired him for the bullying and verbal abuse of over a dozen women and since then, more women have come forward, including underage cosplayers, about him saying hurtful or inappropriate things to them. He is a master manipulator in that he makes sure none of what he does is ever in writing. All of the women that came forward were interviewed and more importantly, believed. In 2020 he helped facilitate an online virtual Girl Scout Comic Con for us. This past April, one of the girl scout’s mothers came to us stating that he had been contacting her daughter ever since then. She was 15 at the time. He was over 40.
This has been going on for almost 2 years now. Unfortunately some cons and local companies still continue to work with him because of his Deadpool cosplay, especially now because of the new movie.
Their bottom line is more important to them than the safety of their attendees.
So rather than make a call out of just him, I’m instead sharing the following conventions, companies and cosplayers that we avoid because they all, knowingly, continue to work with him. These cons, businesses and people still support him regardless of having the proof in their faces for almost 2 years. They support the abuse of women. They support domestic violence. They do NOT care about the cosplay community or women or children otherwise they would not be putting a dangerous predator at their shows or promoting him or supporting him in any way.
Greenville NC Comic Con – cosplay contest judge
Cosplay World Richmond – guest cosplayer / convention advocate
Charlotte Comic Con – cosplay contest judge
SulkySiren – local NC convention liaison that continues to book him
KingBenjiBanks – cosplay interviewer
Lilmoonnn – third party stalking
MariahLynnMakes – third party harassment
Riley.Rooh – third party harassment
Jon V Photography – verbal and photographic advocate
To reiterate, these cons, companies, photographers and cosplayers allow a predator to continue his actions within the community. Only when we show them their wallets are not more important than our safety and the safety of our children, will they understand that this is NOT OK. The cosplayers listed are actively helping him attack us on social media or through messaging conventions we work with in an attempt to defame us to them. Some of them continue to stalk Jenna at conventions to let him know where she is.
If and when any of these companies or people can prove they no longer support a known community predator, we will be glad to remove them from this article.
